What is the age criteria for appearing civil service exam?
must not be more than 32 years. (Age relation is there for candidates belonging to SC/ST, Ex-servicemen and people with a disability)
Is there any provision for negative marking ?
Yes. There will be negative marking for incorrect answers
How many attempts for UPSC CSE ?
Every candidate appearing at the examination who is otherwise eligible shall be permitted six (6) attempts at the CSE. However, relaxation in the number of attempts will be available to the SC/ST/OBC and PwBD category candidates who are otherwise eligible. The number of attempts available to such candidates as per relaxation is as follows:
A person with a disability – 9 attempts (GL/EWS/OBC)
OBC – 9
SC/ST – Unlimited
What are the basic books for UPSC preparations ?
Some of the books you will require for UPSC exams is NCERT Books (Class 6 to 12), Indian Polity by Laxmikanth, Indian Economy, Hindu newspaper, Yojana, etc.
What is the educational eligibility criteria for appearing in the CSE ?
1. The minimum educational eligibility criteria for appearing in the Civil Service Exam is degree. As per the UPSC, the candidate must hold a degree from a government-recognized university.
2. Candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications which are recognized by Government as equivalent to a professional and technical degree would also be eligible for admission to the Civil Services Examination.
3. Candidates who have passed the final professional M.B.B.S or any other equivalent professional examination leading to a medical degree or certificate but have not completed their internship by the time of submission of their applications for the Civil Services will be provisionally admitted, provided they submit a copy of the certificate from the concerned authority of the University/Institution that they had passed the requisite final professional examination.
How can I approach the Civil service exam ?
There are three stages in Civil Service Exam –Prelims, Mains and Interview.
The Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will consist of two papers of Objective type (multiple choice questions) and carry a maximum of 400 marks. This examination is meant to serve as a screening test only.
The Civil Services (Mains) Examination will consist of a Written Examination and an
Interview/Personality Test. The Written Examination will consist of 9 papers of conventional essay type.
Candidates who obtain such minimum qualifying marks in the written part of the Civil Services (Mains) Examination shall be summoned by them for an Interview/Personality Test.
To prepare for the CSE exam, you need to understand the syllabus, revise and practice a lot. Learn from the study materials, refer to the previous year’s question papers, make notes, etc.
