The UPSC Personality Test: Calm Preparation for the Interview

7 min read

DAF-based preparation, balanced opinions, and mock interviews—how to approach the final stage with confidence.

The interview stage is not a retest of Prelims facts. The board assesses maturity, empathy, awareness, and whether you can serve in complex administrative roles. Your Detailed Application Form (DAF) is the blueprint: hobbies, service preference, education, and gaps will invite questions.

Know your story honestly

Prepare every line of the DAF as if it will be questioned. Read balanced views on issues related to your state, optional subject, and work history. Avoid rehearsed monologues; concise, respectful answers land better than speeches.

  • Mock panels with diverse question styles reduce surprise and improve posture.
  • Stay updated on major national developments without adopting extreme positions.
  • Dress simply, arrive rested, and treat the board as a conversation—not an interrogation.
