Qualifying Papers (Not counted for ranking)
- Paper A: One Indian language (chosen by the candidate) – 300 marks
- Paper B: English – 300 marks
Papers for Merit (Counted for ranking)
Paper I: Essay
Write two essays on topics chosen from a list, typically relating to current affairs, philosophy, or other social issues. (250 marks)
Paper II: General Studies I (250 marks)
Indian Heritage and Culture, History, and Geography of the World and Society:
- Indian culture and history (from ancient to modern)
- World history (major events like revolutions, world wars)
- Post-independence Indian history
- Indian society (diversity, social empowerment, communalism)
- Geography (physical, economic, social geography of India and the world)
Paper III: General Studies II (250 marks)
Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice, and International Relations:
- Indian Constitution (features, amendments, significant provisions)
- Parliament and State Legislatures (structure, powers, functioning)
- Governance (welfare schemes, social sector developments)
- Issues of poverty, hunger, and human resource development
- International relations (India’s relations with its neighbors, global groupings, etc.)
Paper IV: General Studies III (250 marks)
Technology, Economic Development, Bio-diversity, Environment, Security, and Disaster Management:
- Indian economy (inclusive growth, budgeting, agriculture, industrial policies)
- Science and technology (recent developments and their impact on everyday life)
- Environmental conservation, climate change, disaster management
- Internal security (border management, cyber security, terrorism)
Paper V: General Studies IV (250 marks)
Ethics, Integrity, and Aptitude:
- Ethics and human interface (ethical values in public life)
- Attitude (content, structure, and function)
- Emotional intelligence
- Contributions of moral thinkers and philosophers
- Public administration ethics, accountability, and probity
- Case studies on ethical dilemmas
Optional Subject Papers (2 Papers)
